Area Guide - E14
Canary Wharf has become the financial hub of our Capital and the idea of living or investing in the immediate vicinity draws people from all over the world.
Surrounded by a number of popular bars and restaurants the ‘City within a City’ is continuing to grow- upwards. A number of skyscrapers offer residential and commercial space for renters, buyers and businesses alike. The latest additions to the ever changing skyline have proven the popular E14 postcode won’t be going out of fashion any time soon.
Supporting the local area is a number of high end retailers and Canary Wharf continues to attract luxury brands. National and international restaurant and bar chains are all vying for the prime prominent retail space where each lunch time 100,000 people descend. Nikki Hamersley offers you an insider tip of how to eat without queuing at lunch “Anywhere within the immediate vicinity of One Canada Square will be incredibly busy at lunch time, head over the bridge to West India Quay or take the short walk to Westferry Circus where they have an array of bars and restaurants with little to no wait time. Try the dim sum at Royal China, we think it’s the best in London.”
Outside of ‘The Wharf’ the E14 postcode also covers the Isle of Dogs, Limehouse and Poplar. Each area has a very different look, feel and community to the others. The Isle of Dogs is probably the most popular for families, investors and buyers alike. Much of the area is council owned or ex-council owned meaning the properties are often slightly larger in size. Asda, the supermarket chain is a prominent fixture placed in the middle of the ‘island’ and will soon also being going under it’s own redevelopment along with a number of residential properties which are being built. Fun fact; The Isle of Dogs isn’t actually an island!
Limehouse is the most serene of the local areas. Just a short walk from Westferry Circus along the River, the area boasts some stunning properties, a marina and some of the oldest pubs in London. Lino Scialo, Head of sales offers says ‘Limehouse is known for it’s popularity among celebs who live there and if you find yourself strolling through the local area you are sure to spot someone.”
